Marie Kondo and the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Crazy busy month.  Didn't really feel like we got started until January 4, so that only left 27 days to actually get anything done.

I got pretty far on my KonMari "Tidying Up".  It is what our Book Club is reading for this month so it was nice to be ahead of the game.  I wanted to stop reading and start working but I made myself finish first.  I also found a great checklist to go by as I worked on each section.

The clothes section is first and was one of the easiest. I got down to minimal clothing and only ones that I really used.  I weighed the pounds and pounds of stuff I was able to get rid of, it felt like I was the one losing the weight and stress.  In the process of selling/donating things now. The rest will be trashed.

Getting dressed and ready is so much faster now.  Laundry actually gets put away because it's just the basics.  My office/workout room was the biggest disaster. I had been transitioning from events to home parties and got rid of a huge number of things, organized paper work for taxes, cleared off my desk and set up an even easier system to get things done.

(I'll have to add some After pictures once I get finished with the memorabilia and other sections taking up space in these rooms)

My husband was away for those 2 weeks, next will be the kitchen/pantry section. One project or section at a time really helps break it down. You can do one line at a time on the checklist or a section. I love how freeing it is and helped me think about STUFF in a different way.  If it doesn't bring me joy, I don't need it.

Have you read this book? Have you used her process at all?
